Copper Kelly

Copper Kelly

This week I'm chatting with very good friend of the show Copper Kelly. Copper is a rising star in the Irish country music scene and also has his own podcast called Folkin' Around Podcast. With influences such as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard to name a few combined with his Irish roots you're in for a unique and very pleasurable listening experience with each one of Copper's songs. A self confessed metalhead, we explore his concert experiences having seen some of the greatest performers the metal world has to offer. We then chat about his love of country music and our hometown of Wexford. This episode is a must for every fan of Concerts That Made Us. Copper Kelly

Singer

Copper Kelly is a country musician and podcast host from Wexford, Ireland.

He began playing guitar from a young age, joining many different types of bands throughout the years including the pub band Free Reign and the Indie Rock band Kings In Disguise.

Copper began writing country music when, in 2017, he met the songwriter Dympna Walsh who handed him some lyrics. He composed and recorded what came to be “Don’t Steal This Moment”. The single received a lot of airplay on Irish radio stations. The success of this single inspired Copper to write and record his own album Worthwhile Waste of Time which was released independently released February 2019

Having studied sound engineering in college, Copper performed all instruments, recorded and produced the album himself taking inspiration from outlaw country musicians such as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams and Lynyrd Skynyrd while also retaining the sound of his Irish roots.

Since releasing his debut album, Copper has enjoyed radio airplay worldwide in countries including Australia, Canada, the U.K, Germany, the Netherlands and of course Ireland.
